The Founders

Simon T. Bailey

When I was 10 years old, the principal of my school met with my parents and told them I was hyper-active (today it’s called ADHD). My first year of high school was bad. I failed in all of my classes. I went out for basketball and football and was disappointingly cut. Nevertheless, a teacher and my parents saw brilliance in me and it changed the trajectory of my life. As a result, I worked for Disney Institute, have spoken to 1800 organizations in 49 countries, and have written ten books.

The purpose of YEBA is to equip every young person with tools to help them release their potential, self-advocate for themselves and identify the workforce skills needed to create a livelihood. You are brilliant and your students are brilliant. I want to help you find your brilliance and live life full of hope and possibility.

Jessica

I entered my junior year in high school on welfare, married, expecting a baby and behind in my academics and skills. No one in my family had been to college and the statistics were against me. On paper, I did not measure up and it was determined that I was not college material.

Despite the grim picture painted for me, I decided to fight for a better future for myself and my unborn son. My fighting spirit led to an outpouring of support and today I have accomplished more than I ever thought was possible.

Informed choice, self-advocacy, self-determination and counseling on post-secondary education mean something to me and is why YEBA was created. Now is the time to challenge the status quo, challenge the statistics and to fight for a better future for yourself, your family and your neighbors. YEBA is here to help you or your students develop a resilient mindset.
